Heather Wilson blasts Obama over “lazy” comment:
Over the weekend, President Obama raised some eyebrows when, at a business forum in Honolulu, he said America has been “lazy’’ when it comes to enticing businesses to invest in the US:
“But we’ve been a little bit lazy, I think, over the last couple of decades,’’ the president said. “We’ve kind of taken for granted — well, people will want to come here and we aren’t out there hungry, selling America and trying to attract new business into America.”
Capitol Report New Mexico covered a speaking engagement Republican Heather Wilson – who is running for the soon-to-be-vacated US Senate seat held by Democrat Jeff Bingaman – attended in Santa Fe on Monday (Nov. 14) and asked her about the comment. No surprise — she pounced:
On Sunday, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper said he’s looking at exporting more oil to China after Obama decided late last week to delay a decision on the controversial XL Pipeline project.
We also asked Wilson — who has experience in foreign affairs — about the news that Iran may soon have nuclear weapons capability as well as what should be done about the growing financial burden of the Social Security and Medicare systems.
