New Mexico's small towns ranked for 'brainpower': White Rock -- population 6,244 -- is a relatively small town in northern New Mexico. It's also very smart.

Nearly 40 percent of the adults in the bedroom community near Los Alamos hold graduate degrees, pushing it into a "brainpower" ranking of 192 in On Numbers' assessment of 10,450 places with 1,000 to 9,999 residents.

The runner up is Eldorado at Santa Fe -- population 5,973. The town is part of the Santa Fe metropolitan area where nearly 33 percent of its residents hold graduate degrees. The town has a brainpower ranking of 196...
