UNM hires former Notre Dame football coach: 
The University of New Mexico has hired former University of Notre Dame coach Bob Davie to head its troubled football program.
He was named the 31st head football coach at a news conference Wednesday and will be introduced to the community at a Thursday news conference, according to the UNM Athletics Department.
According to a UNM news release, Davie’s coaching experience spans 25 years, including head coaching duties at Notre Dame. His record was 35-25 at the college and his teams advanced to three bowl games, including the Fiesta Bowl in 2001...
